As an European public and government affairs advisor (including regulatory issues) Frans-Anton Vermast (1969) has been involved in the outset in the Amsterdam Fibre from the Home initiative (www.citynet.nl), the open access communication infrastructure in the City of Den Haag (The Hague). He has built up considerable business and regulatory knowledge on open communication infrastructures based on optical glass fibre techniques in the Netherlands and Europe.
Since 2008 he also acts as Strategy Advisor Low Carbon Urban Planning of Amsterdam Smart City. In that role he focuses on appliances and services that are available when you combine electricity and broadband connectivity. He is an expert in the areas of (the holistic approach of) Smart Work, Smart Grids, Smart Living and Smart City. The aim is to reduce CO2 emissions and to provide social and economic benefits as well as more sustainable solutions for a better environment.
He has a great deal of Dutch, European and world wide experience with local government and municipality participation in these initiatives.
